Fix Printer Offline Issues

Printer Offline

Issue:

Your computer shows the printer as offline, even though the device is powered on.

Problem Cause:

This problem is commonly caused by:

  • “Use Printer Offline” mode being enabled
  • Wi-Fi disconnection or changes in the network (for wireless printers)
  • Print Spooler glitches or outdated printer drivers

Solutions:

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers, then right-click your printer:
    • Select “Set as default printer”
    • Ensure “Use Printer Offline” is unchecked
  • Restart both your computer and the printer.
  • For Wi-Fi printers: reconnect to the correct wireless network.
  • Clear the print queue and restart the Print Spooler service:
    • Type services.msc in the Windows search bar
    • Find “Print Spooler,” right-click, and select “Restart”
  • Download and install the latest drivers from the printer manufacturer’s website.
